A plain-mounted aikuchi-style tantō, unsigned and unexamined in the tang, with a tired polish — a straightforward entry-level piece.
This is a slender tantō in a plain wooden aikuchi-style mounting, the handle meeting the scabbard directly, with no tsuba. The furniture is minimal and utilitarian: a honey-toned wood tsuka and saya, cream-coloured ring spacers, and a brass collar at the koiguchi. The handle is secured by a single mekugi peg. Drawn, the blade shows a short single-edged sugata with a modest curve and a brass habaki. There is no groove or carving. The polish is tired: the steel reads cloudy and stained under the light, and neither hamon nor hada come through clearly in hand.
The blade remains in its mounting and the nakago has not been withdrawn, so the tang and any mei are unexamined; we offer it as unsigned and make no attribution to a smith or school. A straightforward, entry-level piece for someone who wants a tantō in plain mounts without paying for papers or polish. Principal measurements are available on request.
